Kordian Piwowarski
Composer, film music creator, and songwriter whose work bridges the expressive depth of symphonic writing with the energy of contemporary urban sound. Although widely known as a filmmaker, music has been at the core of his artistic identity from the very beginning. In the 1990s, he led two of Warsaw’s early hip-hop groups, Sinsemilla and South Central, with tracks featured on pioneering Polish compilations by SP Records and Enigma that helped shape the country’s emerging scene. He later co-founded the audiovisual project plan.kton with poet Weronika Lewandowska, performing across Europe in cities including Berlin, Paris, Prague, and Reims. Piwowarski has composed for numerous film projects, including songs for Vinci 2 (dir. Juliusz Machulski) and a full symphonic score for the feature film Teacher of Polish (Pani od polskiego, 2024). He also wrote the symphonic piece Sinfonia Tatrica for the Ballet of the Kraków Opera. His style blends lyrical, romantic piano traditions with jazz sensitivity, electronic textures, and hip-hop rhythm, uniting intuition with precise orchestration. A prolific songwriter and lyricist, his music is available on streaming platforms under the name kordian de varsovia.
