Krzysztof Knittel

Composes symphonic, chamber and choral works, operas, creates electro-acoustic music and sound installations. His discography covers over 60 albums. He has performed in Europe, Asia, North and South Americas. He taught at the Fryderyk Chopin Music University in Warsaw and music academies in Łódź and Kraków. He collaborated with the Experimental Studio of Polish Radio and with the Center of the Creative and Performing Arts at SUNY in Buffalo. He served as director of the Warsaw Autumn festival, founded international festival of improvised music Ad Libitum and several improvised music groups. Krzysztof Knittel is an honorary member of Polish Society of Electroacoustic Music, awarded the Silver and Gold Medals for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis, winner of the Solidarity Cultural AwardPrize, Gustav Mahler Kompositionspreis and many others. In his youth composed film music (including for Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Amator/Camera Buff), and songs. including for Magda Umer (Koncert jesienny na dwa świerszcze, Jeśli myślisz, że ja cię nie kocham, Już szumią kasztany).
